A Splendid Rose Quartz & Gold Cane. France, circa 1820 The cylindrical Rose Quartz is 7 cm high and 1,5 cm in diameter. This hardstone is known for its varied pink shading and crystalline internal fissures. There is a 3 cm high, reticulated gold overlay, decorated with festoonery and scrolls, it has tiny French hallmarks. It is on top of a slender fully bark malacca shaft and finished with two fine gold eyelets and a bimetal ferule. The O.L. is 93 cm and without chips or cracks, the condition is perfect. It is a beautiful example of the type. From the times of King Charles X of France, this jewel can be considered as a two hundred years old, mascot Cane. This type of cane can be considered as a mascot cane, it has the power of bringing luck to its bearer. Rose Quartz is not popular as a gem, the mineral is often found too cloudy and not clear enough to be cut into a gem.
