Historic Anti-war Political System Walking Cane, France ca. 1880

While in the US political canes have been part of election folklore, in Europe, they have often played a subversive and sometimes bellicose role, in this way, Canes become a sign of allegiance not only to political factions but to other groups as well, as is the case with this one, where the warlike-spirit of the German military is discredited after the bloody Franco-Prussian wars by dressing a pig in the distinctive pointed helmet of the Prussian armies.

The tested Silver knob, modelled in heavy cast and finely hand chased, is 6,5 cm high x 4,5 cm to the side x 3 cm wide. There is a silversmith mark C. Martel and engraved with the first owner initials S.T. It is on top of an ebonised shaft and finishing with a replaced ferrule, the O.L. is 90 cm. Without any chips or cracks or crashes, the condition is excellent!
