Exotic fruit Silver Art Nouveau Walking stick. Austria ca. 1900
At the beginning of the 20th century, corn was little known in Europe, therefore it was considered exotic while for different South American cultures it was invoked as "Food for the Gods".
In this elegant handle, we see this fruit exquisitely represented following the artistic canons of design that the mentioned movement achieved, the leaves in sinuous movement carried by the wind and the open fruit showing its grains. There are Austrian makers marks and the well-known 800 numerals.
It measures 10 cm lengthwise x 8 cm high x 2 cm at its widest, it is on top of a beautiful sound laurel wood shaft and finished with a bimetal ferrule. The O.L. is 89 cm and the condition is perfect. It is still a very wearable cane.
In terms of design, the handlebar hook is considered optimal, easy to carry in the hands, it can always be hooked on the fingers and not let it fall, and above all, it can be easily hung from the other arm while keeping your hands busy.
