Damascene is the art of inlaying different metals into one another, typically, gold or silver into a darkly oxidized steel background producing intricate patterns with an exquisite appeal. The English term comes from a perceived resemblance to the rich renaissance tapestries models of damask silk.
This Damascene hook handle is marvellously processed and finished with high skills, representing patterns of the glorious days of Toledo’s Damascenes Crafts in the 16th century, it is in two colours of gold, yellow, and rose, inlaid in black steel. We see leaves, scrolls, and a central shield with a dragon in the middle, there are also two dragons closing the lowest section. It measures 10 cm lengthwise x 8 cm high x 2 cm at its widest, it is on top of a beautiful sound ebony-wood shaft and finished with a bimetal ferrule. The O.L. is 90 cm and without chips or cracks on the metals or ebony, the condition is perfect. It is still a very wearable cane.
In terms of design, the handlebar hook is considered optimal, easy to carry in the hands, it can always be hooked on the fingers and not let it fall, and above all, it can be easily hung from the other arm while keeping your hands busy.
